Please provide your availability below in the form, and you will be contacted to bescheduled into an audition slot. Each Audition slot last approximately 3 hours, Actors should come with a monologue (approx 1 minute) and be prepared to participate in scene work/readings, improvisational activities and games. We will also provide an ensemble piece on the day for singing.

Drop-on times will be provided the Wednesday before audtion, weekend. last minute changes to audition schedule, due to weather will be posted here. You will also be emailed using the address you provide below. Depending on the number of persons auditioning, we may utilize our callback date/snow date for general auditions. Please note that we do not currently have a youth program for actors under 16. However, we do like to include a few actors under 16 as it helps the village feel more real. Also, the number of youth (16-18) we can accept is limited.

Character or Role preference

What roles / characters interest you?

The Shire Cast is at the heart of Mutton and Mead’s interactive experience. Each cast member plays a character/role, bringing that character to life both on our stages and in our streets. POTENTIAL ROLES: All characters will travel the Faire telling stories of their adventures or plights while interacting with the faire-goers. Depending on the character they might have scripted and unscripted scenes throughout the day. This year Mutton and Mead is going back to its roots. We will be focusing on the Mutton and Mead Tavern’s unique (and fictitious) place in history, by highlighting a number of historical periods. As a result there is a wide variety of roles we are looking for. Possible roles fall into two categories: Tavern/Shire Folk and Historical/Legendary: Tavern/Shire Folk: The Tavern Keeper, The Black Smith, Black Smith’s Son/Daughter, Hopeless Minstrel, Leather tanner, Miserably Doomed townsmen/woman, The Executioner, the Surgeon Barber, the Medicine Woman, An Honest Thief, A Snooty Upper-class Lady/Lord, Benevolent Noble, The Town Tinker, Town Beggar, Clothier, Candlemaker, Bowyer, Baker, Dyer, Fisherman, Fores and Farmer. Historical/Legendary Robin Hood, Friar Tuck, Little John, Maid Marion, Alan a’’dale , Sheriff of Nottingham, King Richard, King Arthur, Lucrezia Borgia , Merlin, Guinevere, William the Conqueror Morgan le Fay, Lancelot, Queen Elizabeth 1, Queen Eleanor of Aquitaine , Mary Queen of Scots, Joan of Arc, Don Quixote , Hildegard of Bingen ,Beowulf, Attila the Hun , William Wallace, Vlad the Impaler Robert the Bruce, Grace O Malley, Henry Vlll, William Shakespeare , Ann Boleyn. As part of our preparation process for festival we schedule a number of workdays to Build Costumes as well as to Build and Paint Sets and Backdrops.
